Let me know how it goes. I would love to install Gentoo on my XTR. The
hardest part being the kernel. The ROM issues are a little scary.
I am not so worried about the Cobalt OS, GUI or etc. I just want to be
able to use a 2.4 or 2.6 kernel when it's released. If I can keep the
LCD up an running that would be great. However if it does not work, it's
not a big deal.
Hopefully I do not have to do a hack install by pulling a drive and
installing the OS via another machine. However when the time comes it
will be what ever it takes, or my XTR will be going on eBay or sold via
some other medium. Replacing it with generic hardware. Something that I
can maintain the software for myself.
