Subject: [cobalt-developers] AWSTATS Problem
Hi All;
I have AW-Stats on my Raq 4 and someone somehow
managed to get several porn sites listed in the stats..... Grumble....
Grumble... Customer found it..... A Church Webmaster no less!!!! How do I
stop it ????
I like to use it as a demo of what I have set up
I hate to limit it because someone is having fun at my expense
It can be found here at
http://www.chautauqualake.net/
http://www.chautauqualake.net/awstats/
I also have Weblizer as well
No problems there

Franklin,
The solution for this problem really needs to be built into awstats. It
needs to have the ability to filter out particular words. It looks like
someone has written a script to make multiple requests to your server using
porn urls as the referrer. I've had a similar problem in the past.
Possible solutions...
1. Look through the web server log to find what ip is making the requests
(hopefully not spoofed), then blacklist it. Be careful that your not
blacklisting something big like an isp's gateway or entire net block.
2. Remove the trash from awstats data files. In the data directory, look for
this month's file (usually awstats102003.txt). Inside the data file, you
will find a section that starts with "External page referrers - Pages -
Hits".

Chris
