Thanks for this Gerald.
Just need a bit more clarification - if I install a new ROM, will I still be
able to install the Raq4 OS if I decide not to continue with 550?
regards
Steve

I believe the ISO 550 Installation requires > 2.9.xx, not 2.3.40, but I
could be wrong. We have been using 2.9.36.

O/Ss?
The ROM version will be changed once installation is complete, we have had
no problems with any previous ROM versions. Beware! changing ROM can be
hazerdous, we have replaced 120+ ROMs over the past year or so. For some
unexpalined reason, the upgrade, sometimes does not complete properly.
One error seems to be that when the CD restore process ask for the
hardware, there is a natural inclanation to enter RaQ550, be sure to
enter, in your case RaQ4.

We have been running RaQ550 OS on production servers (raqware.com) since
September 2002, and have had no problems, other than the kernel patches.
Thanks to Duncan Laurie (http://cobalt.iceblink.org) and Brian Smith
(http:/nuonce.net) this hurtle has been 'jumped'.
We have also sold and refurbished dozens of RaQ3/4s running RaQ550 OS.

More RAM would be helpful, but unless your server is very busy, probably
not neessary.
