Hello all,
I've been having a problem with my Raq4 which started about 2 weeks ago. I
noticed the following things, which all started at the same time:
1) I cannot check my emails using POP from my mail client. This is the case
for all the email accounts, and occurs with my clients' accounts too.
2) When I log in to the Cobalt server administration page (/admin) it shows
an error:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and
was unable to complete your request.
I am unable to get a listing of the websites on the server, but the other
tabs seem to work.
3) In the Active Monitor, it shows a green light next to the "Network"
listing, but a grey light next to all the rest, including CPU, memory etc.
It is not able to give me any information about these items.
4) When I use telnet to acces the server, I can log in with the "admin"
username. But when I use su, it says the password is wrong and I cannot get
access.
FTP and the the web server appear to be unaffected.
This started after I was sending out our newsletter to our mailing list
using a PHP script which makes an HTML message, but I don't know if that is
relevant.
I contacted the hosting company, and after a lot of deliberation they
decided that the operating system had become corrupt. To they tried to
reformat the hard disc and re-install the OS. But that didn't work for some
reason. So they decided to ditch the machine, and transfered everything to a
different machine. And that worked fine. For a new days.
Yesterday I sent out another batch of the newsletter... and guess what...
the same problem has re-appeared.
Has anyone experienced this problem or have any idea on the
cause/solution...? I am thinking of going with another host, because I can't
bear to put the guys at the support desk through the same thing again...!
:-)
Thanks.
