I've seen a lot of mails about replacing the software on a RAQ. I've
upgraded the java and tomcat stuff in order to work with the latest
spec's of JSP and Servlets. There are a few replacement GUI being
mentioned here, but it seems they all lack support for Tomcat. One hand
it's suprising now one is mentioning this here, on the other hand this
doesn't suprise me since most stuff is written in PHP or Perl :-)
So I'm still on the look for a decent Web administration tool that
supports tomcat, please don't mention ensim or plesk I don't no which
one but their java support sucks big time. What I need is an
administrationtool that basically does what ispman or directadmin, but
also supports tomcat in a decent way that makes sence from a hosting
point of view. The ideal package should support many clients per tomcat
instance, but also one client per tomcat instance or even one client per
tomcat instance located on a different machine. For administrating
webapplications you then can use the tomcat administration package for
all the three possiblities and give the last two as well the manager
package of tomcat, so they be able to fuckup their own tomcat. Of cource
their will be issues like autorization stuff for tomcat that needs to be
supported. Personally I think a client must have a choice if he just
want some jsp/servlet support of having more control over his tomcat.
Problem is I can't find such a decent webbased administration. Sure I
can dissable all tomcat features in one of the gui's and do it by hand,
but I don't know if the gui overwrites the apache settings or adjust them.
So I'm wondering is someone out there using a multiple instance tomcat
setup on a Cobalt Raq550 and so are you using a gui to configure this or
doing this by hand.
