Re: [cobalt-developers] RaQ replacements??

Hello,

Ehhh.... it seems I seems a lot of mails. Maybe a stupid
question, but why are we discussing an issue as replacing
raq's anyway?

Because all RaQ's have been listed as discontinued or marked for EOL (end of life) for this year. Sun says they will support most for three years following EOL. Most Raq's are already past that other than the 550.

That means we will only see a few patches for major security problems in the future with basically no software upgrades from now on. Thus we will need to update on our own or move to a different platform. There are several groups trying to come up with a way to upgrade our current boxes. We have a few people, ie Gerald that can repair them. Otherwise, as they break they will need to be replace with another box. To this end there are a couple of groups trying to make a GUI somewhat like the Cobalt GUI that will run on a Raq or white box.

Any help?
