Yes, but we have all learned and witnessed what happens when a huge
company acquires a smaller one.
Either the smaller one creates new markets, and additional revenue, or
the large one will gobble it up, digest it, leaving only the waste
behind.
Cobalt was a great company on it's own, and now is no more. Man I am
glad I am not a founder. Sure you have some cash in your pocket, but
that's only because you sold your child to the slaughter factory.
If the founding members of Cobalt are still out there, and if they still
have some cash. They should really start up another Cobalt like company,
an pick up where they left off.
Bottom line it seems Sun bought Cobalt to jump into Linux. Without
actually having a long term plan or strategy with Cobalt.
Now Sun has found it's direction with Linux, and unfortunately had to
destroy Cobalt in the process.
Yes, it would be wise for Sun to do something with the Cobalt line.
However if it was in the stars, they would have done it by now.
Instead what they have done, is ordered the cheapest tomb stone for
Cobalt they could get, and put the company 6 feet under.
Who is holding the funeral for Cobalt? Where should I send flowers? ;)
