RE: [cobalt-developers] Spamassassin on Cobalt

Well, I went ahead and installed spamassassin on my qube. I ran the two
command line tests:
spamassassin -t < sample-nonspam.txt > nonspam.out
spamassassin -t < sample-spam.txt > spam.out
With success!

But I'm having problems with my .forward and .procmailrc files which call
the spamassassin.
My .forward has the following line:
"|IFS=' ' && exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #paul"

(paul being my user name)

Sending mail causes an error:
   ----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 5.7.1 /home/users/paul/.forward: line 1: "|IFS=' ' && exec
/usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #paul"... Address <paul@xxxxxxxxxxxx> is
unsafe for mailing to programs

Now, I read that I needed to change the permissions of the .forward and
.procmailrc to 640 which I did. Still get the error.

Am I missing something really basic here?

Thanks,

Paul

Subject: [cobalt-developers] Spamassasin on Cobalt

I would specifically like to install Spamassassin on my qube 3.

I've read that most of the problems occur because of a problem with
differing perl versions. Is this a real problem? If so, what's the best
solution?

Do I install the RPMs designed for Red Hat 7.3 or the general Unix version?

Any other problems I need to be aware of?

Any/all information is appreciated. If these questions were answered on
previous message boards or e-mail lists can you please point me in the right
direction?

Thanks!

Paul
