Hi Anthony,
in general the system CAN do that, BUT i don't know whether the standard-sendmail will.
We use qmail with the qmailadmin-Web-frontend and we have a RaQ4r with roughly 5000 POP
accounts and some mailing lists, and a kaspersky virus scanner ... and all
works fine & quick.
So if you use the original sendmail it should do with 1100 POPs.
On the other hand it depends on the size and number of emails your customers will
send / receive.
