Dave,
During heavy times it can get to about 20 in each directory on my servers. Sendmail will keep these
in queue for a standard 5 calendar days. Once in a while it will get down to about 5 in these
directories. They sit in queue because it could not be delivered - usually a bad e-mail address.
If they are old (over 10 days) I just delete the few that are there. Sometimes they don't get
deleted.
If there are alot, I would suspect that someone is sending to a list (spamming). I would
investigate and stop them from spamming. We have a SPAM policy so that our clients do not spam.
I hate spam!
