Re: [cobalt-developers] Fixing the nasty RaQ Hack...

Hi,

I tried to install the OpenSSL package from
ftp://ftp.nacs.net/pub/software/cobalt_raq4, but there are a ton of
dependencies for 0.9.6b (which is what is currently on my system.) Does
anyone know whether it is safe to just wipe out the 0.9.6b RPMs in favor
of 0.9.7?

Here's what I get when I try to install the RPM:

# rpm -Uvh openssl-0.9.7-1.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
        openssl = 0.9.6b-8 is needed by openssl-perl-0.9.6b-8
        openssl = 0.9.6-9 is needed by openssl-devel-0.9.6-9
        openssl = 0.9.6-9 is needed by openssl-python-0.9.6-9
        libcrypto.so.2 is needed by curl-7.9.4-1
        libcrypto.so.2 is needed by php-4.1.2-PM3
        libcrypto.so.2   is needed by wget-1.7-3
        libssl.so.2 is needed by curl-7.9.4-1
        libssl.so.2 is needed by php-4.1.2-PM3
        libssl.so.2   is needed by wget-1.7-3

Is it safe to wipe out the -perl, -devel, and -python packages? Will
this make 0.9.7 install successfully?

Finally, is there anything else I need to install to prevent this bug
from getting in to my system? (I've already installed the Apache patch
from Cobalt.)

*sigh* I'm starting to think I should just migrate everything over to
the 550s...

Thanks,
Erica
