Hi,
First of all: Happy Newyear everyone!
Secondly: I recently moved a domain 'sarrcom.com' to a new server (a RaQ 550). But there is an email problem. I can send email but I cannot receive email.
I tried to solve this myself but didn't succeed. Here's what I did:
- I went to http://www.checkdns.net (an excellent tool btw) and entered sarrcom.com and as far as I could see, everything was OK there:
Check mail-servers
Domain sarrcom.com has only one mail-server
...
Mail server 80.65.131.2 [80.65.131.2] accepts mail for sarrcom.com
All MX are configured properly
- checked the DNS settings for sarrcom.com (I'm using ZoneEdit.com):
View "sarrcom.com"
IP Addresses: Domain Name IP Address
sarrcom.com 80.65.131.2
mail.sarrcom.com 80.65.131.2
www.sarrcom.com 80.65.131.2
Mail Servers:
Domain Server Rank
sarrcom.com mail.sarrcom.com 0
Nameservers:
ns1.sarrcom.com 64.246.27.155
ns2.sarrcom.com 65.125.230.11
Again as far as I can see everything is correct here.
- checked the settings on the RaQ server and compared them to an existing domain danzig.org on the server for which email works:
User List for www.danzig.org
Add
Full Name User Name Email Aliases Status Action
Danzig.org danzig info, webmaster
Email Settings for www.danzig.org
Enable APOP -
Email Server Aliases (optional) danzig.org
mail.danzig.org
Catch-All Email Address (optional)
- comapred that to the sarrcom.com settings:
User List for www.sarrcom.com
Full Name User Name Email Aliases Status Action
SarrCom.com sarrcreg r, reginald, info, webmaster
Email Settings for www.sarrcom.com
Enable APOP [none]
Email Server Aliases (optional) sarrcom.com
mail.sarrcom.com
Catch-All Email Address (optional) [none]
- I'm trying to think of what else could be wrong but I can't come up with anything. Btw: people who send email do NOT receive a "failed message" notification! Mail does NOT arrive on the server (checked through Telnet).
Any suggestions, please?
Brgds,
Reginald
