[cobalt-developers] pop before smtp on RaQ550

We're having a problem with our first RaQ550...

It's got Solarspeed Spam Filter and Solar Speed AV-Suite installed, if
that makes a difference, and it's up-to-date on security patches.

POP before SMTP isn't working at all...

Here's a cut-and-paste from the /etc/mail directory (sorry about the
line-wraps; I thought it better for me to do it than just have it
happen in your received email at a random point):

<snip>
[root mail]# ls -al sendmail* popip.db
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        12288 Jul 12 08:12 popip.db
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root            9 Jul 12 08:15 sendmail.args
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        44952 Sep  4 16:33 sendmail.cf
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        44610 Sep  4 16:28
     sendmail.cf.nopopauth
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        44952 Sep  4 16:33
     sendmail.cf.pre-spamfilter
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        44772 Sep  4 16:33 sendmail.orig.cf
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        44772 Sep  4 16:33
     sendmail.orig.cf.pre-spamfilter
</snip>

Note that the popip.db database (created by POP before SMTP) hasn't
changed since July 12th, and that the sendmail.cf* files haven't
changed since September 4, which appears to be (from the creation of
the *pre-spamfilter" files) the same time the SolarSpeed spamfilter was
installed.

We've changed the "POP Authenticated Relaying" field a few times, back
and forth, and it doesn't make any changes <frown>.

On a RaQ4, every time we turn POP before SMTP off or on the files
change; we get a new date, and various sendmail.cf* files are copied to
sendmail.cf.

So we know it's working on a RaQ4 and we know it's not working on our
550.

Anyone able to give us some ideas?

(And, oh, take a look at my temporary new sig... and the headers if this
post if you're interested... I'm testing a linux desktop.)
