I just tryed to flash my cobalt's ROM, and got: ./flashtool: flushing buffers ./flashtool: flushing block 0 to ROM..../flashtool: flashrom_flush_buffers(): erase failed for block 0! Bad or non-existent flash chip?
That's odd - is your ROM soldered or socketed? If socketed, make sure the socket is seated and closed correctly...What type of chip does it identify?
I don't suppose I can pop into the local electronics store, get a new prom chip, hot swap it (I assume if I rebooted, I couldn't boot), and flash it again ?
ukmmmm, not unless you have a socketed ROM and a programmer. Both unlikely. -- Tim Hockin Systems Software Engineer Sun Microsystems, Cobalt Server Appliances thockin@xxxxxxx
