[cobalt-developers] make for mysql fails with file format not recognised

Thanx everyone who posted back when i was trying to find some 'Hard-2-Find'
rpms last week, i got em all and all installed no probs.

I am however still having a weird problem, i'm installing MySQL onto a
surplus RAQ2 and it refuses to make (same for all versions od mysql).

I get this "/usr/bin/ld:violite.lo: file format not recognized; treating as
linker script" if i delete this file to see if its just that one it soon
fails on another.

The operation it is carrying out at this point is..
gcc -shared  libmysql.lo net.lo violite.lo password.lo get_password.lo
errmsg.lo ...etc... blah...

Anyone know why this is happening?
