Hi
I am an ICT Co-ordinator in a school in the uk. We have a Cobalt
Qube3 that is behind our LEA a firewall and acts as our web
server.
I am after a step by step guide to setting up MySQL for use on the
Qube3.
AFAIUI MySQL is already installed. I want to be able to use a web based
administration and client applications. Then later use PHP4 myself for
using MySQL databases in my own pages and applications.
I'd prefer not to use a shell for any of this because we don't have
access to one through our firewall but of course I could do if
necessary.
Does anyone know of a step by step guide to:-
a. Checking if MySQL is installed the Qube3
(Nothing seems to show up on the Administrator pages)
b. Getting a web based MySQL administration tool and using it to create
a database and allowing access to it for users we already have on the
system
c. Getting a web based MySQL client tool and using it to access the
database
Finally will there be any problem using MySQL through a firewall if the
normal http and ftp ports are open?
I'm not a complete beginner with Linux but I'd prefer to be treat as
one for this :)
TIA
