these build errors of Perl are only normal if gdbm is missing or not installed 
properly. And no thanks for the snotty reply.

Proof:

Download ...
http://ftp.cobalt.sun.com/pub/products/raq550/SRPMS/gdbm-1.8.0-3.src.rpm
.. and try to build it with the two patches which are in the RPM. It will fail 
to build.

Download ...
http://ftp.cobalt.sun.com/pub/products/raq550/SRPMS/perl-5.6.0-9.src.rpm
... and it will build fine without gdbm support.

Then go back and build gdbm-1.8.0-3 WITHOUT the two patches and perl-5.6.0-9 
without the .no-db patch and you will have a PERL-5.6.1 *with* gdbm support.

Judging from your wrong response here and the clueless replies on the 
cobalt-security list I respectfully suggest you don't speak up if you don't 
know what you are talking about.
