Hi all,
Due to the confusion that occurred regarding the official name of the LX50,
I wanted to clarify that the official name is Sun LX50.
Just days before the launch the 'Cobalt' name was dropped from the product.
Apparently the graphic designers did not have a chance to change this in
time in their website documents. Please note this does NOT mean the Cobalt
productline will be dropped. One should also not compare the Sun LX50 to
e.g. a Sun Cobalt RaQ 550, as they are targetted at a whole different market
and use.
The reason that the product was carrying the Cobalt name in the design phase
was because the unit is created by the Cobalt business unit. The
introduction of Solaris on an Sun Intel server also does not mean we will
drop Linux from our RaQ products.
Please note that I am not an official Sun spokesperson, so above is my
personal 'announcement'.
With regards,
