[cobalt-developers] Dead MIPS NASRaQ...Peeling the Onion

I have a NASRaQ with a Quantum Effect Design MIPS processor. It quit
working the other day.

I have been debugging this problem ever since. The symptoms are a frozen
boot with nothing more than "Blocks" across the face of the LCD. The disks
are spinning up and the ethernet contoller is active. I am able to mount
the disk partitions and view the file system of each disk when installed in
a PC.

However, I can not establish serial communication via a verified null modem
cable and hyperterminal. Basically, I can not communicate with NASRaQ
whatsoever.

I have switched out the power supply and CMOS battery with no better result.

I have reached the point where I would like to burn in new firmware. This
particular unit has an AMD AM29F040B socketed EEPROM installed.

Does anyone second my conclusion that I should burn in new firmware? If so,
does anyone know where I can get a copy of the firmware and an installation
exec?

I am at my wits end. Any constructive information would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

Darryl
