This is what worked for me on MacSSH:
Instead of connecting through the Open Connection menu, create a Favorite
using your normal setting. In the Favorites window, click the SSH2 tab.
Under Compression, change from zlib to none. Don't ask me why that has to
be. All I know is that it was the only combination of options that worked
over here.
