smrsh (Sendmail restricted shell) will prevent you from using this as it only
allows scripts which are linked into /usr/adm/sm.bin/ to be run at that
point.
Usually only the majordomo wrapper, procmail and vaccation are allowed to be
called. That's easy to fix, though:
ln -s /usr/local/etc/yourscript /usr/adm/sm.bin/yourscript
