Sorry, haven't been following the entire thread, what hung? A particular
service?

Kind of off-topic, but I strongly suggest you install SSH and disable
telnet. SSH and telnet both provide access to the server's shell, but SSH
sends data encrypted while telnet sends data in plain text which is a
serious risk. pkgmaster.com has a PKG file for the current version of SSH.
Install it via the GUI, then disable telnet through the GUI. If you run a
PC, use a client program like putty (free) or securecrt (fee) to access via
SSH instead of telnet.

Check /var/log/kernel for starters.

Type "ps aux" or "top" to monitor active processes. Install and run "lsof"
to get details about open files. Get rootkit detection programs like
chkrootkit and run them to see if you've been hacked...

I'd suggest avoiding that unless you don't have the time, expertise or funds
to determine the cause. That's a rather extreme solution.

Again, I'm not sure what's freezing and what's not and what you've ruled
out. What security solution do you have in place? Any unusual activity
leading up to this?
