RE: [cobalt-developers] Large mailings

Matthew,

I have a recommendation on a subscription management interface that will
allow your customer to manage their opt-in list with ease. It has an
"Invitation Feature" that will allow them to send a one-time mailing to
addresses that he/she purchases (or gets from trade shows, etc...) for
confirmation of subscription to their list. This feature is nice because it
allows the user to click on a link to confirm their addition to the list.
(Nice and easy for the end user - no form to fill out, just click on a
link.) You can manage many lists and send your mailer from one single
screen. It's not free but I found that it pays for itself within a couple of
mailings.

Go to http://www.cgiscriptcenter.com/ and click on Subscribe Me. The
enterprise version is the only one that offers this "Invitation Feature",
but the shareware version is a nifty tool as well.

Hope this helps...

Brian H.

Subject: [cobalt-developers] Large mailings

I have a customer who has a large opt-in mailing list. She has
thousands of e-mail addresses she's received from people at trade shows,
and she wants to send them messages.

I know that if you hack the config files for majordomo, you can prevent
lists members from using the list, limiting it to a single person doing
the mailing. However, is majordomo the best tool for this job, or
should I look into something else?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
