You are aware that the 2.5 tree is completely experimental, right?

Presuming your XTR is a production machine, I wouln't install an
experimental kernel tree on it; Linus knows what he's doing when he
waits before certifying a tree as ready for production.

For those who don't know, all even dot releases of the Linux kernel are
for production, all odd dot releases of the kernel are experimental. 
(That's the first-level dot.)

If our XTR is an experimental machine, then that's what you do; you
experiment.  I haven't been interestd in Linux experimental trees for
years, but my first suggestion would be to check the various official
(not distributor) news groups.

My guess is that the compile includes headers written for the standard
PC bios.  RaQ XTRs sure don't have a standard PC bios.
