Hello, for basically the first time, we have a "server not found" error when trying to connect to url's that we host Nothing really mission critical yet on this server but that is not the point Telnet worked just fine The owner of the server suggested she go downtown to the office where the server is and reboot would telnet be able to do this and save the trip? "Server not found" isn't too common, I believe we had a few. But is there a quick way to solve it and even try to prevent it?
You will probably get many replies. Most will tell you rebooting is not likely the problem. Almost all will tell you to turn OFF Telnet and set up SSH. Telnet is not secure and you could quite possibly have been hacked. The Cobalt appliance is nice for those of us who know next to nothing. If you plan of using it, you will need to learn a bit about security though or you will be restoing the machine often.
