Even I uninstalled  rpm
    gd-1.3-5.i386.rpm
   gd-devel-1.3-5.i386.rpm

the php confiure found always  gdImageCreateFromGif in -lgd... (cached) yes

what is -lgd ?? and where can I found It

If  I do : rpm -qa | grep gd
I have:
    sysklogd-1.3.31-17C1
    gd-1.8.3-4
    gdbm-1.7.3-19
    gd-devel-1.8.3-4
