[cobalt-developers] Install [insert distro here]

Question for everybody.

Why exactly, would you want to install another Linux distro on a Cobalt?

Why not just use another x86 machine lying around? The whole beauty of the
Cobalt's is that they _have_ the custom Cobalt distrib on them.

No offense, but installing another Linux distro seems completely and utterly
pointless to me. What's installed on it seems ok for me - sure, I prefer
Debian's apt style packaging, but if I'm adminning a Cobalt, I want it to
actually _be_ a Cobalt.

If I want something else - hell, sell the cobalt and use your extra moola
($$$) to go buy a brand new spanking server.

Installing something like NetBSD could be interesting, but, it really isnt
something you could ask for support for, is it now <grin>.

Subject: [cobalt-developers] Install Red Hat

| Is there a way of installing Red Hat 7.1 on a RaQ4? I've tried taking out
| the drive, installing RH7.1 and putting it back in, but the cobalt hangs
on
| 'loading kernel' and reboots.
|
| If not, how about Red Hat 6.2? Basically I don't want the cobalt's
'custom'
| Red Hat on there.
|
| Any ideas would be much appreciated.
|
|
| Jody.
