<snip>
Has anyone figured out a safe way to allow everyone to read the stats?
Will just deleting the .htaccess file do that?
</snip>
just mv .htaccess htaccess
that should do it.
<snip>
Does it use the same "stats" directory with the same permissions?
</snip>
<snip>
If so, will I have to rebuild anything for domains already on my system
or will it find everything?

from cobalt-aid.sourceforge.net:
"Warning! This update is not compatible with the older versions
(webalizer-auth*)!!
This means that for best effect, only install this package on the 1st of a
month.
If you don't, you loose the data you had accumulated before you installed
Webalizer2.
It's your choice, you have been warned. ;)"
i.e. install webalizer on the 1st of October or it will not work properly.
also, some people (read: very few people) through some manner have not been
able to properly get their webalizer to update properly so they have had to
remove both 1.3 and 2.0 and install 2.0 clean.
One bug I do want to mention which as far as I know is indegenous to us is
that the stats folder has not been replaced by ~stats as stated in the
webalizer 2.0 information nor have we had any serious problems with
frontpage
users. We did do an upgrade from 1.3 with webalizer 2.0 and no realy
problems
were encountered.
The webalizer.conf file gives root ownership; you can
hack the /etc/cron.d/webalizer.conf (corrections on the path are
appreciated in case i don't remember this verbatim!) and change
the ownership there. The job should run at 4:12 am per v. 2
package up on cobalt-aid.

What do I have to do, Thomas, to upgrade from Taco's 1.3 pkg (already
installed on the RaQ4i) to the 2.0 package? Do I just uninstall 1.3 and
then install 2.0?
If so, will I have to rebuild anything for domains already on my system
or will it find everything?
Does it use the same "stats" directory with the same permissions?

And finally... will it tell us where in the world people are browsing in
from, or will it still find that 100% of the browsers are from that huge
country I've never seen in my atlas, "Unknown"?
<smile>
Thanks for any answers.
Jeff
