hi
I've got a couple of issues/development questions concerning a new
Qube3 (professional edition), all BlueLinQ recommended patches applied,
plus ssh installed.
(*) any attempt to backup all files over ftp fails. The Qube just
creates zero-length files -- can anyone suggest a reason for this? I've
not tried smaller backup sets yet...
For instance:-
ncftp /20010821151027 > ls -al
-rw-r--r-- 1 support support 0 Aug 21 07:13 base000.tar
-rw-r--r-- 1 support support 0 Aug 21 07:41 home000.tar
...and so on.
(*) When using Mac OS X (client) all file transfers fail with either:
sorry the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error
occurred (error code -8605)
or
The operation cannot be completed because one of more of the required
items could not be found (error code -43).
in either case the data fork of the files does transfer, but resource
fork does not (file types/creators are lost), which from a mac users
point of view is pretty serious! Anyone else observing this behaviour?
(*) I want to make the Qube a domain logon master for an NT domain
(replacing a PDC) -- is this possible with the version of samba (2.0.9)
that's now running? what patching would i need to make? Clients include
WinNT and 2k as well as Win9x.
(*) when using the Qube as a gateway is there a way to increase the
timeout threshold on an unused state? For example, an SSH session with
no activity will 'die' when the Qube is used as a gateway for a few
minutes. On other unix gateways I've used this behaviour can also be
observed, but usually after an hour or more, sometimes much more. I
guess this is a kernel level change (pleased to see the link for the
source posted here recently) but before I dive into it, does anyone
know off hand how this keeping state/timeout behaviour can be changed?
Thanks
