cmos -c romrev returns 2.3.35
I just need remote X.  IBM Viavoice requires lesstif-0.91.0 and I want to
be able to use VNC or Exceed into the box

this is horribly horribly wrong.  can you please run 'cmos -c romrev' and
tell me what it says?

remote is cake.  local is nigh impossible.
