TIPS: the GUI is pretty quick to setup manually, although there are command
line tools to setup users and virtual host that can be run through a macro
ssh/telnet session in packages such as SecureFX's SSH tools
The RaQs are basically Linux 6.x boxes with nice web frontend
So what you can do on a linux box you can do a on a raq.
But a word of advise, "the RaQs do exactly what they say on the box" if you
start adding weird stuff you'll break it and cobalt support won't help you.
If you have the technical ability to do clever server side stuff you might
as well build your own server, but if you want to quickly deploy cost effect
virtual hosting platforms the raqs are great, as with most things they have
the pros & cons but so do most solutions!

Subject: [cobalt-developers] Documentation on Cobalt GUI (from
development point of view)
Hi there,
We are looking at integrating some of the better web based billing systems
with
the Cobat GUI/setup scripts.
There are only two auto-setup type scripts freely available (from what I
could
find in the list archives, and at the Cobalt developer site) - the
NorthwestHost
one (at $90), and "signup" (free, but it appears as if development was
halted in
Feb 2001).
Where can one find more information about the inner workings of the RaQ 4i
and
the Cobalt GUI (without paying Sun Cobalt something like $700 for their set
of
manuals)? And please note that we are not looking for Linux or PostgreSQL
info
;-)
Oh - we don't own the RaQ and have no idea of what documentation is supplied
with the machine. Perhaps we should approach the owner/ISP?
Rgrds,
Johan Pretorius
