Can someone please provide some advice on configuring my RAQ3 server for ASP
database connectivity. I currently only have the default software
installed.
I am trying to use Microsoft FrontPage 2000 and have successfully created a
site layout but when I try to use the Web Settings Database configuration to
configure the connection to MySQL database I get the following message:
"The FrontPage database features are not available for this Web, for one of
the following reasons: the web server administrator may have disabled them;
the server extensions may not support the necessary interfaces; or the Open
Database Connectivity (ODBC) component may not be installed on the web
server."
Does the FrontPage Server Extensions only provide a means for FrontPage to
integrate with the RAQ server for site management WITHOUT database support?
Unless I write CGI scripts using Perl it would appear that I need to
purchase a database server integration software such as ChiliSoft,
ColdFusion, Lasso so as to use ASP. Is this correct? If so, what should I
be looking out for? Are there any good alternatives that could be used
instead (possibly free)?
I already have Macromedia's Dreamweaver UltraDev 1.0 and have been using
ODBC for testing to a local MySQL database but I'm uncertain what I need to
configure when my pages are uploaded to the RAQ server.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ian.
