Please read the above again if you are even thinking
about jumping to 2.4.
And from Tim's README:

This is no joke. If you make a mistake while you are
burning the ROM, you will turn your Cobalt box into a
cute blue heat generator. And our support dept will be
really unpleasant about issuing RMA's for systems that
are dead because someone blew an unsupported ROM upgrade
process.
Still, if you are desperate for 2.4, things should work
out. If you live in CA, make sure that there are no
blackouts planned, and burn baby burn.
