RE: [cobalt-developers] Can I IP-address share site like this?

Hi Kevin,

What Jim said here is not completely true. In the admin ui you fill out
www as the hostname and iwu.sigmapi.org as the domainname.

It is no problem to use a shared IP address, as long as you don't forget to have
the DNS records changed to reflect that new IP address. Also be aware that if
DNS maintainer hasn't modified the TTL value for the (sub)domain temporarily, it
can take up to 86400 seconds (=24 hours) until all traffic is directed to the
new IP address. Best thing to do is to change the TTL value to e.g. 86 24 hours
in advance, then 24 hours later, move the site, change the ip address and change
the TTL value back to it's original value. 86 seconds after restarting the
nameservers the domain should resolve to it's new ip address.
