Please excuse my questions as I am a newbie at system
admin, and need help....
I have a RAQ 3 and it is very slow, mainly in the
downloading of images (10,000+). FTP uploading, Telnet
and email are ok. CGI processes is a bit slow also.
The RAM is currently 128. So slow that at times, the
download process even stops halfway or reboots itself
(I think). Business is hurting because of this!!!
My questions are...
1. If I were to increase RAM from 128 to 256 or 512,
how much of an increase in performance would I see
(assuming this is the issue)
2. Are there OS (Linux) or Apache settings that can be
adjusted to increase speed and to handle more?
Although, when I look at the 'system status' settings
in the control panel, it always says "lightly load"
and CPU load average always says "0.0". Is this
correct?
3. How do I know if it is something with the server
verus network speed of the managed facility? Should I
be using a higher grade server?
I am really in a tight spot and need to do something
fast!.
You can email me at TNP3@xxxxxxxxx if you want.
Thanks.
