I have my windows machines? set up in
(1) control-panel->network
  Identification:
     Computer Name (same as user on qube3)
     Workgroup WORKGROUP
   Access Control
     Share Level Access Control (selected)
(2) control-panel->network->tcpip-adapter->
  DNS Configuration  (selected)
      Enable DNS
      host = user, Domain = loaclnet.com
  Gateway
       the Qube3 NIC 192.168.1.1
  Wins Configuration
      Enable WINS Resolution  (selected)
      Wins Sever Search Order
          Qube3 NIC 192.168.1.1
  IP Address
       Obtain an IP adress automatically
  Bindings
        Client for Microsoft Networks
        File and Print sharing for Microsoft networks

I don't know if it's correct, but it works.
