Shutting down sendmail is probably not a good idea since so many administrative
and cron functions use it. You could configure around it, but what a pain
that would be. Why don't you just cut of access from the outside with a
firewall rule?
/sbin/ipchains -A input -p tcp -i eth1 -s 0/0 -d 0/0 25 -j REJECT
