Actually, the "force-unclean-shutdown" and "force-response" directives are
standard with a custom Apache/mod_ssl/OpenSSL setup, and as I stated in my
previous emails, these custom machines would still fall prey to the "No DNS"
IE bug once in a while. Of course this was back towards the early days of
IE 5, so some of the bugs were probably fixed as updates and SPs for IE were
released.
I'd imagine it's a combination of many different things (most of the problem
== IE) that would cause the user's browser to choke. I was experiencing the
problem with more than just plain old Perl/CGI scripts; PHP, iHTML & Miva
just to name a few.
