For those who are in the same boat.
I fixed the problem. It was easy enough for someone like me.
I went to cobalt site(click download link at support page) and downloaded
glibc update pkg file and installed.
but I had to download and install RAQ2 os 3 first.
Then the floating point problem is gone.
Hope you do well too.

thanks for reply.
i just found the following line in the readme file from cobalt mysql
installation instructions.(this is the instruction that I saw at the time of
installation, apparently I ignored. :(
o The floating point support is fixed. To use floating point successfully,
you must upgrade your glibc to 2.0.7-29C2 or higher.
can some one tell me how to upgrade glibc. or how can I find out what my
version is?
If I have to upgrade glibc to new version, does that mean I have to reinstall
MySQL from the beginning? I might lose all the databases and things...
Please help.
Genesis.

I found the glibc version : it's glibc 2.0.7
is it too low?
do I need to upgrade for mysql (for floating point problem)?
