hi all,
how can I update cgi.pm ???
I would like to installa NeoMail as an Webgateway to my POP3 server on RAQ3i.
I get the following error:
**********************************
****** COMPATIBILITY CHECKS ******
**********************************
IF ANY OF THESE CHECKS FAIL, INSTALLATION WILL NOT CONTINUE.
PLEASE INSTALL THE APPROPRIATE DBM LIBRARY OR MODULE AND TRY AGAIN.
Checking for installation of Berkely DB or GNU DB capability...
Looks OK.
Checking for up-to-date CGI.pm...
Your CGI.pm is outdated. You have version 2.56, while NeoMail
requires at least 2.72.
I updated my CGI.pm with no problems on my Raq2 and I just
did it on my Raq4. Here's what I did on my Raq4.
1) Obtain the module from
http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/LDS/CGI.pm-2.74.tar.gz
2) Put the archive somewhere convenient on your Raq to do
the compile. I like /tmp but use what you like.
3) cd /usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/
(or to whatever the version of Perl is on the Raq3) and then
cp CGI.pm CGI-2.56.pm
so you have a backup in case something goes wrong.
4) cd wherever
back to the location where you put the archive
3) tar -xzf CGI.pm-2.74.tar.gz
to untar and ungzip the archive
4) perl Makefile.PL
to generate your makefile
5) make
to create your binaries
6) make test
to test out your new binaries
7) make install
to install binaries and documentation
It should install things in the correct place and everything
should work.
You should have a look at the README file which has some notes about
how XHTML is the default output now and about changes to some
routines.
8) Clean up after yourself in /tmp
Michelle
