Okay I found the fix.

[root@borg ppp]# more chatscript
TIMEOUT 5

TIMEOUT 60
[root@borg ppp]# more chatscript.master
TIMEOUT 5
"" ATZ
OK ATDT
ABORT "NO CARRIER"
ABORT BUSY
ABORT "NO DIALTONE"
ABORT WAITING
TIMEOUT 60
CONNECT ""

[root@borg ppp]#

I removed the CONNECT "" line....  this was causing the other end to want to do
