Title: Linux Development Engineer
Location: Mountain View, California
As a valued member of Cobalt's Developer Relations Team, this
engineer will help developers succeed in bringing their solutions to
Cobalt server appliance customers. The right candidate will enjoy the
fast-paced team environment, the intellectual stimulation of the
problems to solve, and the variety of technologies and partners we
work with.
The job involves
motivating and educating developers,
helping developers solve technical problems,
writing and documenting sample code and reference applications,
building and deploying applications to support Developer programs,
interacting with developers via phone, e-mail and in person,
assisting in the creation of Tech Notes and Developer web sites,
representing Cobalt at selected trade shows,
helping with technical evaluations of third-party solutions,
sharing technology solutions with Cobalt Product Engineering team.
Skills needed are
strength in programming C or C++, and Perl absolutely required,
in-depth knowledge of Linux;
(must know the ins and outs of RPM files and HTML)
Java, Javascript helpful
LDAP, PHP, and/or SQL database experience a plus
be able to multitask and work on multiple projects at once
creative problem-solving skills.
The job requires a team player who
is organized,
a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision,
who has well developed verbal, written, and listening
communication skills,
who is a life-long learner.
Will involve occasional travel.
