The only sites in the DNS dropdown list are sites that have a DNS entry associated with them.  If you remove the DNS entry for a
virtual site then it's name will be removed from the dropdown DNS record list as well.  To get the virtual site listed in the DNS
entries, you must set up a DNS entry for it and leave it there.

By the way, this should probably be posted to the cobalt-users list rather than this developers list.
