I just posted a message about something like this to the users list a few
days ago.  Take a look at Psionic LogCheck:

You can have it email you as much/little information as you desire.  You set
the filters that it uses to scan your log files and build reports.  Makes a
great companion to PortSentry (also from Psionic).
