Actually, the srm.conf belongs to the old configuration of Apache.. In newer versions of Apache the srm.conf and access.conf files are empty and only the httpd.conf is used.. Sorry if I mislead you..
Anyhow.. Search either of the 3 files for "php".. You should have just once:
"LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so" and
"AddModule mod_php4.c" and
"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
"
This is obviously for PHP4 but if you have PHP3 is the same.. I guess like this:
#AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php3
#AddType application/x-httpd-php3-source .phps
