Re: [cobalt-developers] Backups - Newbie

Here's what I did !

I installed a second drive in my RAQ3, It was easy and linux
picked it up, mounted it and asked for a name for it.

Then I used a spare IP that I had and setup a fake domain name for
it on the second drive. This way, I go to my admin on the raq and
maintenance, created a scheduled backup, and have it ftp to the
second drive IP address. It only takes a few mins for a full backup
of the RAq, however, I'm still shakey about what would happen
when I need to use the reverse to recover from a home drive failure.

I have about 3 gigs worth of sites on my box, and the .raq backup
file that is created every day is around 255megs. I haven't found a
way to view the contents of the backup, In fact I have juse the
standard UI to create backups, then delete the site and try and use
the standard backup to restore them, you can see all of the files,
but they restore with lots of errors..

I don't really think this method is dependable, but for now at least
it's something..

What is happening is that the previous days backup file is also
being encluded in the next days backup, so I have to ftp to the
second drive and delete the previous days file ... It's a pain, and I
would like to know if there's a switch for the backup.cgi on the box
that would exclude backing up the second drive. I have looked
close at the backup.cgi and don't see anything relative to that.

All responses will be appreciated..

Blessings, Lennie Core

wow...I've never seen this used that way Can you tell I'm new to RAQ's ?
;)

Anyway...following the above example...can someone throw up here way to
backup the RAQ 3 TO the RAQ 3?

Let me try and you tell me if I'm right/wrong...what to fix...

/usr/admserv/cgi-bin/.cobalt/backup/backup.cgi -b complete -t
complete -p ftp -r "ftp://admin@xxxxxxxxxxxx/"; -s 420 --
password 'xxxxxx'

Also... Is the above for a full backup of everything? I would like to
see how that would look! :)

Thanks to all of you ahead;
