The Admin console uses a port (81) which is not a "standard" port and which
your Linksys cable modem is probably blocking. The reason web, ftp and
telnet work is that they are all on standard port numbers which the device
MUST allow to pass.
Most cable modems and DSL devices have security features built in to try to
prevent hackers from breaking in to unsuspecting home users machines - which
are very inviting targets. The protection is done by blocking most port
numbers except those which are "safe" and/or required for proper operation
of mail, web, and related services.
You'll need to contact LinkSys and/or your cable company (good luck!) for
advice and information on how to turn "on" port 81 on the cable modem's
"firewall" or packet filtering. There may be other ports that are needed as
well.

I have just installed a new Cobalt RAQ3 to my linksys box which in turn is
connected to the internet thru my @home cable modem. For some reason I
cannot get to the remote admin page thru the web, but I can Telnet and FTP
with no problem. I have the correct settings in the Linksys box. I prev
owned a Raq. If I replace the Raq3 with the Raq I get the Remote pages over
the web.
