[cobalt-developers] NASRaQ Boot Problem

My customer has a NASRaQ that won't complete the boot sequence. A user was
working with a MySQL database, when the process appeared to hang. She
attempted to reboot the NASRaQ using an init 6 to clear the problem. The
RaQ shutdown, but now remains in bootup with an "*" displayed on the front
panel. It never progresses any farther.
I browsed previous postings to this and other user groups, and the closest I
came was someone who had a similar problem on a RaQ3. The recommended fix
was to attach a console, then attempt to check the filesystems. Does anyone
know whether this would work with a NASRaQ? or what causes the problem when
a reboot is issued from the command line? This is actually the second time
a problem like this has occurred. The first time, my customer rebuilt the
NASRaQ as a RaQ2. I would rather understand what causes the problem and
what the appropriate solution should be. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
