Dear Mr. Kwan,
To come to Mr. H. P. Ströbel 's and our defense,
what he sent you was a very wonderful and useful URL.
He could have put,
http://users.iol.it/hpstr/
but I think nearly everyone who read this knew what to do.
But, in fairness, clearly not everyone.
He perhaps thought you were used to the "brief-speak" and or
developer/programmer abbreviated way of sending and receiving written info.
We all tire easily of day in and day out elaboration of EVERY single thing
we comment upon, as in the case of THIS reply. A great example.
I'm worn out already, dinner is cold.
He clearly thought, as a subscriber to this list
that you were "hip" to this, and took some of his precious time to share info
with you.
Essentially, he thought you were used to and comfortable with,
this means of correspondence and obviously intelligent.
I, for one, am grateful for his time, and have bookmarked this URL as
I am CERTAIN I will need it to share with one of my clients.
It will save me MUCH time and effort. Thank you, Mr. Ströbel !
That you think the respondent was somehow being condescending was clearly
not the case, and may be evidence of your own sensitivity.
I think you should note that you have essentially placed an uncomfortable
request
on the considerate respondent and on the group by asking for a second reply,
and now from the VALUABLE resources of TWO devolopers for what was again,
a simply stated solution.
I am taking this time to write this to remind you and one and all,
that anyone who takes time to help anyone else here is clearly not invested
in any other endeavor but to assist and share with you and one and all.
I have taken little from this group as I am quite comfortable with the
programming, and learned much in the initial development of the systems.
However, I was asked to participate because of this and still monitor because
I became disabled and now have more time than I wish.
However, there will, I hope, certainly come a time when I will need to place
my urgent request for help from the resources you folks have,
and rest assured, in advance, you will have my undying gratitude.
Including you, Kwan.
Use Mr. Ströbel's URL. I think it will help immensely!!
And then take a moment and thank him. He liked you, obviously very much.
Sincerely,
Jessica McDonald Ph.D.
