This is a variation on my previous post where the question asked was if you
can view a site before InterNIC points DNS at your server. We set up a
temporary domain with a totally bogus name (like www.tempxyz01.com) and
publish the FrontPage web to it. Then, we set up the real web site and DNS
settings and publish from the temporary domain to the proper one. At that
point, you can delete the temporary domain if you wish and the DNS settings
if you want to wait for InterNIC to make your DNS server authoritative. Or
don't delete the DNS and the web site will come up the moment the changes
propagate.
Technically wrong and probably has some repercussions, but our customers are
always happy about it, which makes us happy. YMMV.
